Martin isn't really paying attention when he opens his front door. It's not really a thing he needs to concentrate on. He does it most days, though admittedly, not every day. Today he's getting in from an unexpectedly fun trip back from Findel, Luxembourg. The doorstep then, doesn't really rate, and the step is slightly further down than he's expecting, which is why he stumbles and only just catches himself before he realises that he's not actually in his house.
Oh look.
A grin crosses his face. Oh yes. Today is getting even better.
He reels the grin back in a little, there's no cause to go alarming the general populace after all. He's not exactly ready for dinner yet, so he doesn't head straight for the bar, but he does enjoy exploring this place and he never seems to find the same room twice.
---
He pushes through a heavy doorway and finds himself outdoors. Odd, but definitely not as odd as the garage scrapyard.
Fair enough. He'll go for a walk. The weather's promising.
He hasn't gone far when he hears the shots. They sound controlled rather than like some kind of terrifying gunfight, so he heads towards rather than away from them. It turns out to be a wise decision, as he gets closer and spies first the targets themselves, and then Kaidy.
He waits for her to pause before calling out.
"Hey! Kaidy!" He's grinning like an idiot again as he approaches.
